چکیده

In this work, we introduce the framework for visualization and interactivity for physics engines in realtime, for short VIPER. It is able to execute various physical simulations, visualize the simulation results in real-time and offer computational steering. Especially interesting in this context are simulations running on remotely accessible HPC clusters. As an example, we present a particulate flow simulation consisting of a coupled rigid body and CFD simulation, the chosen visualization strategy and steering possibilities. Additionally, performance evaluations and a performance prediction model concerning the update rate for remote simulations in the context of the VIPER framework are given.

A complete and efficient CUDA-sharing solution for HPC clusters

In this paper we detail the key features, architectural design, and implementation of rCUDA, an advanced framework to enable remote and transparent GPGPU acceleration in HPC clusters. rCUDA allows decoupling GPUs from nodes, forming pools of shared accelerators, which brings enhanced flexibility to cluster configurations. This opens the door to configurations with fewer accelerators than nodes,...

Using an MPI Cluster in the Control of a Mobile Robots System

Recently, HPC (High Performance Computing) systems have gone from supercomputers to clusters. The clusters are used in all tasks that require very high computing power such as weather forecasting, climate research, molecular modeling, physical simulations, cryptanalysis, etc. The use of clusters is increasingly important in the scientific community, where the need for high performance computing...

Effective HPC hardware management and Failure prediction strategy using IPMI

Intelligent Power Management Interface (IPMI) defines common interfaces to “intelligent” hardware used to monitor a server’s physical health characteristics, such as temperature, voltage, fans, power supplies and chassis. These capabilities provide information that enables system management, recovery, and asset tracking which help drive down the total cost of ownership (TCO) and increase reliab...
